A central Louisiana company is showing off a new invention that converts woodchips into electricity.

The machine was conceived and built by Avoyelles Renewable Fuels.

Right now they’re in talks with several industrial companies, including Caterpillar.
All of the parts of this contraption are green technology.

In addition to being a renewable and clean source of energy, if the woodchip convertor catches on in the industrial world, Louisiana tree cutters could capitalize on the market because if there’s increased need for wood chips, that’s potential profit.

At the demonstration site in Winnfield, the design team hooked the machine up to a computer and an air conditioner.
