THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish officials have decided against banning private fireworks displays this Fourth of July
weekend.

Rain this past weekend brought an end to dry conditions in the
parish, easing fears that fireworks would lead to dangerous outdoor
fires.

Lafourche is one of the parishes in Louisiana where private
fireworks are allowed. In many parishes and cities, private
fireworks are banned. In Lafourche, even though there won’t be a
ban, officials say the safest option is to attend public displays.
