Alexander Announces the King and Queen for the 2009 Washington D.C. Mardi Gras Ball
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, is honored to announce the King and Queen for the 2009 Washington D.C. Mardi Gras Ball.
Rodney Alexander, currently serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, was named Chairman of the 2009 Washington Mardi Gras. This year’s ball will be held January 31, 2009 and the theme will be Sunshine On The Delta.
Serving as King will be Roy O. Martin III of Alexandria, Louisiana. Mr. Martin III is president and CFO of Roy O. Martin Lumber Company, L.L.C., Martin Timber Company, L.L.C., and Martin Companies, L.L.C. He is a director and co- founder of Indigo Minerals LLC, a Houston based oil and natural gas exploration company, and Perforex Forest Services LLC, a Louisiana logging company. Throughout the years, Roy has also volunteered his time and served in various board and chair capacities for companies and organizations.
“I am proud that someone from the 5th Congressional District will have this honor,” Alexander said. “As a successful businessman and dedicated community volunteer, Roy O. Martin has helped move Central Louisiana in the right direction.”
“To serve as this year’s King, I am sincerely appreciative,” Martin said. “This is such a unique honor, and this experience will be even more special with my daughter by my side.”
Serving as Queen will be Laura Kathryn Martin of Alexandria, Louisiana. Laura is the daughter of Roy O. Martin III and Kathy Martin. She is currently a freshman majoring in Architecture at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a member of Tri-Delta Sorority at Louisiana State University.
“I am thrilled to represent the great state of Louisiana as the 2009 Queen and want to express my deep appreciation to Congressman Rodney Alexander for giving me this wonderful opportunity,” Martin said.
