BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Tasmin Mitchell had 16 points and a
career-high 15 rebounds to lead LSU to an 84-63 victory against Cal
State-Fullerton on Tuesday night.
Marcus Thornton led the Tigers, who are 6-0 for the first time
in five seasons, with 24 points. Chris Johnson added 16 points and
nine rebounds and Bo Spencer had 13 points for LSU.
Josh Akognon was the only player in double figures for the
Titans (3-5), who were outrebounded 56-27, with 23 points.
Thornton’s 3-pointer put the Tigers in front 11-9. The Titans,
who fell behind by as many as seven points, reduced their deficit
to 28-26 on Akognon’s 3-pointer.
LSU closed the half on a 14-5 run.
Cal State-Fullerton cut into LSU’s advantage by scoring five
points on a basket by Ray Miller and a 3-pointer by Marcio
Lassiter, but the Tigers regained control by outscoring the Titans
9-2.
