Troopers Arrest Georgia Man On Drug Charges
Late last night, Troopers arrested a man from Georgia when they found a large amount of marijuana in the vehicle he was driving.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers stopped a 1983 Ford van at approximately 10:15 pm, driven by Jason Dean Fields (W/M 34 yrs) of Portal, GA. Fields was stopped for a traffic violation on I-20 at US Hwy 165. After the Trooper encountered Fields, he noticed several clues that heightened his suspicions. Written consent was obtained and a Louisiana State Police K-9 alerted on the vehicle. A false compartment was found to have 112 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana weighing 247.8 lbs.
Fields was then arrested without incident. He was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Improper Lane Usage and booked into the Ouachita Parish Jail.
