Greetings again from London!
We awoke to a crisp, Fall morning with a stiff breeze, making it a little cool, but still beautiful, nonetheless. You know those Tour Buses you always see in the movies? Well, Kay Whittington, Bob Wieters and I decided to spend the day riding around the city on top of one of them, and I’m sure glad we did! A city like London is so big, so unknown when you haven’t been here before - but this bus tour really gave me a better idea of what London is all about.
Of course, we had to tour from atop the bus - which made it a little more cold - but well worth it. Hope you enjoy the pictures I was able to take with the Simpson Electronics Video Camera. It may sound strange, but now that I took the tour, I feel like I know London a little better and don’t feel so “foreign”.
It also amazes me that every place you go, somebody is speaking a foreign language. Seems like “other” languages out-number those who speak English. But London is certainly an international city!
I also enjoyed the bus tour guides, who narrate the tour for you over the loudspeaker as you go. A few of them have that crazy Brit humor (Eric Marshall knows what I mean on that one!). My favorite was one guy talking about one of the kings who was short, something like 4’-7”, but as he said, “and even shorter than that after they chopped his head off.” Only in London!
Also got to see the hotel in which Charlie Chaplin worked in the kitchen before becoming a big star. The great story there is he came back after he was famous to the same place - actually entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest… and finished 3rd Place!
Well, the trip is going fast. Tomorrow is game day. We leave the hotel at 2pm and hit the tail-gate party which is supposed to be something like Mardi Gras. Then the kick-off is 5pm at Wembley Stadium. That, I can’t wait for!
Well, it’s 2am now so I’d better turn in.
Goodbye for now and again as they say here, “Cheers”!
