Teen Dies In Rapides Parish Crash
On Sunday, September 07, 2008, at 2:08 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 456, milepost 6, in Rapides Parish.
The crash involved a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, driven by a juvenile (B/M 17 yrs) of Lecompte, LA. The Pontiac was south bound on LA Hwy 456 when the juvenile driver lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Pontiac collided with a tree.
The juvenile driver received moderate injuries and was transported to Cabrini Hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The only passenger in the vehicle, identified as Mr. Korey J. Richard (15 yrs) of Lecompte, LA, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Routine toxicology tests are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troop E Troopers have investigated 42 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 46 fatalities. Six of the 42 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Five fatal crashes have involved an ATV and two have involved a motorcycle. Twenty-four of the 29 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Six fatal victims were restrained.
