On August 15, 2008 at 1:40pm, Christopher D. Smith, 39, of Pineville, a former teacher of Holy Savior Menard High School, was arrested and charged with offenses stemming from an improper relationship with a female student who attends the school.
The case was investigated , and the arrest was made, by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division.
The acts for which Smith was charged, all occured off-campus, and dates as far back as last school year.
Smith was booked into the Rapides Parish Jail and charged with: Two (2) counts of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile; and two (2) counts of Prohibited Sexual Conduct Between Educator and Student. All of the charges are felonies.
At the time of this press release, Smith was being held at the Rapides Parish Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond. $5,000 for each count of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile’ and $10,000 for each count of Prohibited Sexual Conduct Between Educator and Student.
The investigation is ongoing. Updates to come.
A person as young and immature minded as 16, and even 17, is easily manipulated by a man that is almost 40 years old. The fault does not rest with the girl, but with a grown man that took advantage of a young mind and easily manipulated feelings. I know Chris Smith and find what has happened mind blowing. It was something I NEVER expected. But I guess a person can never know anyone completely. It isn’t fair for the girl to be ridiculed, or talked about, by anyone. Instead of talk, lots and lots of prayers should be said for both parties.
