Southeastern Louisiana University has de-activated an off-campus sorority, some members of which were arrested after alleged hazing in January.

The approximately 15-member Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapter at SLU in Hammond was ordered on June 24 into inactive status for three years. The university says the sorority may reapply after that.

Tangipahoa Parish sheriffs deputies said they arrested eight AKA sisters this month on counts of hazing, false imprisonment or other violations. Authorities have refused to discuss what allegedly occurred.
