Meet Preston Durr. In this video he is driving through the town of Boyce in a Boyce police cruiser. As of this week, Durr is the new Assistant Chief here, he says he’s hoping to find a house for he and his wife in Boyce- so they can live in the town where he’ll be working.
This week News Channel 5 learned that Durr resigned as Chief in Colfax in Grant Parish. He’s come here to help newly elected Chief Elvin Wren get the tiny dept modernized and mobilized.
Durr says he hasn’t followed the Claude Williams story in Boyce, he says he rather just concentrate on the job he was hired to do, and if Elvin Wren doesn’t seek re-election, then this young man is going to run for chief.
Chief Wren says he’d like to hire more officers so he’s hoping the town council will give him some more money so the dept can keep growing in numbers and in capablities.
