BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police are investigating an apparent accidental shooting that left a teenage boy dead inside a family member’s home and sent another teen to parish prison.
Police say just before 1 a.m. Wednesday they responded to a shooting and found a 14-year-old boy dead from a gunshot wound to
the chest.
The victim has been identified as LaPaul Bowie.
Police say his nephew, 17-year-old Terrell Profit, was playing
with a .38 revolver and fired it once. The bullet hit Bowie in the
chest, killing him.
Police say Profit ran away, but was caught about an hour later.
He was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison
on a negligent homicide charge.
