A budding aviator out of Berkeley, California is trying to become a top gun with his unbelievably aerodynamic airplane…made of paper.

Alex Cheng is one of 300 students from all over the world competing in this weekend’s Red Bull Paper Wings contest in Salzburg, Austria.

“I never thought I’d still be making paper airplanes in college and going to austria because of it,” he laughed before departing.

Years of throwing and making paper airplanes blessed Alex with the hand-eye coordination and tremendous aim which allowed him to launch his V-shaped paper missile 150-feet across a room to qualify for the competition.

The throw fell about 40 feet short of the world record, something he’d love to smash in Europe.

His sights are set beyond the competition, however.

Alex says he wants to be a pilot for the Marines someday.
