UNDATED (AP) - Baylor coach Art Briles has a simple message for
his players:
With games coming up against BCS conference schools Washington
State and Connecticut, tomorrow night’s game against Football
Championship Subdivision school Northwestern State shouldn’t be
taken lightly.
Baylor is coming off a 41-13 home loss to No. 20 Wake Forest in
Briles’ Baylor debut. It would seem the Bears would get a breather
hosting 1-0 Northwestern State, which lost to Baylor 47-10 in Waco
two years ago.
But the Demons played two BCS teams last season and nearly upset
Mississippi on the road November 3rd, losing 38-31.
The Bears will try to snap a nine-game losing streak dating to
last season. That’s Baylor’s longest skid since dropping 10 in a
row in 1998 and ‘99.
Freshman quarterback Robert Griffin will make his first career
start and has the task of ending Baylor’s drought. He saw extensive
action off the bench against Wake Forest. He was 11-of-19 for 125
yards and rushed for a touchdown against the Demon Deacons.
