Nicholls State University has extended its deadline for class registration until tomorrow.
School officials say that’s to help students who tried to reach the campus while its phone system was down for two weeks before the semester began.
They say lightning hit an antenna outside the phone communications building, damaging equipment. The system is now up and running.
