Police have arrested a woman for allegedly forcing her nieces to put their hands on a hot stove.

An arrest warrant says 31-year-old Nedra Berry grabbed the hands of the girls, who are 11 and 12, on Jan. 29, and held them on a hot stove at a Baton Rouge home. The children told investigators that Berry burned their hands to punish them for stealing something from school. The Advocate reports Berry was booked on two counts of cruelty to juveniles.

The victims’ grandfather, 46-year-old James Tucker, was booked on two counts of principal to cruelty to a juvenile. Police say tucker allegedly saw the incident, which occurred at his home, but did not stop it.
