NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A Mississippi man has been charged with
fraudulently receiving $138,400 in federal loan money after
Hurricane Katrina.

The federal charges filed Thursday in New Orleans against
45-year-old John Peters, of Moss Point, Miss., carry a maximum
sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Peters secured home and business loans from the Small Business
Administration after the August 2005 hurricane, but prosecutors
said he knew he wasn’t entitled to the money.

A sentencing date has not been set.
