Residents of Bunkie are being asked to conserve water Thursday night. The town is battling a fire which some residents say began in the McNabb music store in downtown Bunkie.

Bunkie has been hard hit this week, first with the onset of Hurricane Gustav, and then with the record breaking rains which came after the storm on Wednesday morning.

A tour of the town Wednesday afternoon showed flooded streets and fields throughout the area.

Thursday night the Mayor of Bunkie contacted News Channel 5 in a plea for help from area residents. He asked for water conservation while emergency workers battled the fire.

We’ll have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
