BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU fans have given their national
champion Tigers a raucous welcome home.
Thousands wore purple-and-gold at Alex Box Stadium in Baton
Rouge on Thursday to thank LSU for winning the 2009 College World
Series. They gave standing ovations to each player, plus head coach
Paul Mainieri.
The fans roared as a flag was raised at the centerfield wall
proclaiming the Tigers the 2009 national champs. The flag joins
five others commemorating national title teams in 1991, 1993, 1996,
1997 and 2000.
In the final game of the three-game series, LSU beat Texas 11-4
on Wednesday to take that title.
