LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri, whose Tigers are picked pre-season No. 1, will be featured speaker Jan. 19 at the Generals Booster Club banquet. Proceeds benefit the LSU at Alexandria baseball and softball teams.
Mainieri, who was chosen National College Baseball Coach of the Year in 2008, will be available for autographs and pictures. Tickets are $250 for a table of eight, $40 for an individual ticket, and $20 for LSUA students. They are available through the Office of Auxiliary Services, 473-6475.
LSU, which advanced to the College World Series last year, won the SEC championship and collected a league-record 23 consecutive victories near the end of the season.
LSUA baseball coach Dan Purvis and softball coach Casey Goodman will present previews of the Generals’ second season, and merchandise will be auctioned at the banquet. The fete starts at 6 p.m. in the state Evacuation Center adjacent to the campus.
