Forestry is the second largest manufacturing employer in the state and about 500 members of the Louisiana Forestry Association attended their annual meeting.
Oil and gas leases are on the minds of many land owners due to a large natural gas deposit in northwest Louisiana called Hainesville shale. Forests make up about 50 percent of the state’s land and forestry employs about 17 thousand people.
