Massive Army vehicles pull out onto Col. Blvd-- they’re preparing to fill up with fresh water and head for New Orleans.
Meanwhile, on this lot behind headquarters, National Guard Soldiers from the 199th are making sure these trucks are in tip top order. They’ll be en route to New Orleans too, if Gustav is going to hit. As some National Guard Advance Teams are already in NOLA, for Private Jason Dudley there’s a sense of wanting to follow close behind-- to help however he can.
Back in 2005, the 199th had just touched down in the States after a combat deployment to Iraq. No sooner had their plane landed, did they receive orders to respond to Katrina.
