Soaring temperatures in Shreveport have city crews scrambling to flush out water lines. It seems the heat is causing taste and odor problems with the city’s water.
Mike Strong, director of the city’s Department of Operational Services, says the hot weather raises temperatures of transmission lines and that affects the water in them. Projects are under way to fix the problem. Strong says one new water line is being laid and the city is bidding out projects for a new transmission line and booster station.
Those projects should be completed in time for next summer’s heat wave.
