As more red light cameras pop up, so does new technology that can help drivers avoid getting a ticket.
Gary Laing is selling the new red light warning systems.
There are a range of options, including the $300 Cheetah that tells drivers an upcoming intersection is armed with cameras.
For a lot less money GPS owners can subscribe to the same database for a yearly subscription.
Police are supportive of the technology.
“What we want is compliance. It’s not about revenue. It’s about getting people to stop for red lights,” Frisco, Texas police Sgt. Gerald Meadors said.
Laing said that is his company’s goal too.
“It’s alerting you to upcoming danger areas, so it’s a win-win for us as well as the police department,” he said.
The warning systems range in price from $25 to $500.
