The U.S. Drought Monitor shows a band of
moderate drought across central Louisiana, a sign of worsening
conditions for farmers.
In recent weeks, the drought tracker has showed dry conditions
across all but southeastern Louisiana. Abnormally dry conditions
had covered much of the state, with a spot of moderate drought in
east-central Louisiana.
That spot expanded across the state this week, now covering a
wide swath across Louisiana.
Moderate drought also showed up this week in part of
north-central and eastern Mississippi.
