One of the bridges spanning the Red River between Bossier City and Shreveport is about to close.
The Jimmie Davis Highway Bridge will close July 15th for six weeks while the state Department of Transportation and Development makes repairs. Bob Taylor, an engineer with the department, says the state will spend $560,000 to shut down the bridge and essentially jack it up like a car.
Taylor says slabs connecting the bridge to the roads on both ends are cracked and need to be replaced.
