Avoyelles Deputies Make Street Sweep in Summer Storm

AVOYELLES DEPUTIES MAKE STREET SWEEP IN PHASE II OF “SUMMER STORM”

According to Sheriff Doug Anderson phase II of Operation “Summer Storm” was carried out Wednesday night throughout Avoyelles Parish with the assistance of the U.S. Marshall Service Fugitive Task Force, F.B.I., Louisiana State Police, Alexandria Police Department and the Rapides Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Anderson stated that this is in response to complaints from citizens throughout the parish regarding the openness of drug activity in their communities and more specific, their neighborhoods. More than forty (40) officers fanned out in various communities in Avoyelles Parish and were assigned to areas known to have a heavy volume of illegal narcotics trafficking. The Sheriff stated, “We will continue similar operations in the future in response to our citizens desire to rid their neighborhoods and communities of drug dealers.” Eighteen (18) people were arrested as a result of the Wednesday night operation.  4.6 pounds of marijuana, 54 ecstasy pills, 12 Lortab, 6 hydrocodone, 4 grams of crack cocaine and 5 grams of powdered cocaine were seized during the street sweep.

The following individuals were arrested during the operation and booked into the Avoyelles Parish DC #1.

Alexis Alexander – Marksville – Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule IV CDS with the intent to distribute, Contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, Possession of Schedule III CDS, illegal carrying of weapons.

Richard Alexander – Marksville – Possession of marijuana, Illegal carrying of weapons, Possession Schedule IV CDS, Contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

Derrick Tremaine Patrick – Mansura – Possession of marijuana with the intent to Distribute, Possession with the intent to distribute CDS IV, Possession of Schedule III CDS, Illegal carrying of weapons, Contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

Joseph Hutchingson, New Roads, Possession of Schedule II CDS with intent to distribute.

Darvin Georgetown, Baton Rouge, Possession of Schedule I CDS with intent to distribute.

Joshua Washington, Baton Rouge, Possession of Schedule II CDS with intent to distribute.

Willie Elliot Perry – Marksville – Possession of marijuana, Seatbelt violation.

Dalerick D. Scott – Bunkie – Possession of Schedule I CDS, Resisting an officer, Introduction of contraband into a penal institution.

Peter John Celestine – Marksville – Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ricky Jenkins – Cottonport – Possession of Schedule I CDS.

Kirk Joseph Carmouche – Marksville – Possession of Schedule I CDS, Possession of Schedule II CDS with intent to distribute.

Dontravins Clark – Marksville – Possession of marijuana (simple).

Tony Lavalais – Moreauville – Possession of marijuana.

Justin Dyke – Simmesport – Possession of Schedule I CDS with intent to distribute.

Eden R. Rabalais – Simmesport – Possession of Schedule I CDS with intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule II CDS with intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule III CDS.

Lawrence Johnson, Mansura – Distribution of marijuana.

Two 15 year old juveniles were arrested in Bunkie for possession of marijuana and were released to their parents pending the juvenile adjudication hearing.
