Booze and the BB Gun

On Sunday afternoon (4-19-09) around 3:30 pm an APD officer was dispatched to the textile factory at 3119 Masonic Drive in reference to an aggravated battery.

Upon arrival the officer made contact with 46 year old Glenn Marshall who said he was out back when he was struck in the head by a BB…the officer notes Marshall had swelling on the backside of his
head.

The officer then spoke with the manager of the factory, Adam Rubin, who said 53 year old Lawrence Liberto, who lives on 3110 Herbert Street behind the factory, has been shooting BB’s at the factory because he is unhappy it is so close to his home.

Rubin also said Liberto had been drinking all day.

So the officer goes to Liberto’s house and finds him drunk and stumbling.

The officer also finds a Daisy BB Gun in plain view and without even asking Liberto told the officer he didn’t do anything…except shoot a BB at the factory behind his house.

Liberto made it pretty easy for the officer to arrest him for Aggravated Battery, which is exactly what happened.

No Pennies, Meet Pipe

An APD officer was dispatched to Huey P. Long Sunday morning (4-19-09) around 3 am in reference to a battery.

Upon arrival the officer met 40 year old Kedrick Thomas who said he had been beaten with a pipe by a 20 something named Jarvis Williams.

Thomas said the assault happened on Williamson Street and that Williams hit him on the head and other parts of his body.

The only visible mark on Thomas was a deep 1.5 inch gash above his right eye.

Here’s the ridiculous part of the story: Thomas told the officer he owed Williams $80 for drugs and he didn’t have the money so he got beat with a pipe.

The officer, who more than likely had better things to do, told Thomas he could file charges if he wished during the business week.

UPDATE: Extortion Allegation Arrest

Kalb.com first reported this story on October 29, 2008.

A 63 year old woman walked into APD headquarters with her lawyer Tuesday (10-28-08) and told a detective the following story: in October of 2003 she and another 63 year old man began a romantic relationship.

The man moved in with the woman and all was well. However, she says in the summer of 2006 the relationship began to fall apart after he began showing a controlling tendency.

She says the man moved out in October 2006 but he wouldn’t let go and kept contacting her via email.

She then says the man began harassing her in various ways: he contacted the Rapides Parish Tax Assessor and told them about all the physical improvements made to the home in recent years, he called the IRS and told them she had failed to pay her taxes, he told her he was going to send embarrassing pictures of her to her family, her friends and to the parents of the children she tutored at her home and finally she says he downloaded some of her personal information onto a device before he left the home in October 2006.

She told the detective she just wants this all to end and if filing criminal charges is the only way to do it, then so be it.

Apparently it was the only way to get the situation resolved because 63 year old Michael Lee Leblanc was arrested Friday (4-17-09) and charged with cyber-stalking and extortion.
