Asleep and Under Arrest
Monday mornings are usually the bad ones but for one Kelly Street resident it was Friday (5-01-09.)
An officer was dispatched to 1405 Kelly Street Friday morning around 5:45 am in reference to a disturbance.
42 year old Lynette Broadway called because 45 year old Robert Sheppard had broken into her house.
Broadway said Sheppard tried to kick in the front door but to no avail.
The door was cracked and the lock was bent, however.
Broadway then said Sheppard went to a window and climbed through.
Once inside, Broadway says Sheppard wouldn’t let her call the police.
So Broadway says she just waited till Sheppard fell asleep and then she called the police.
When the responding officer entered the home he found Sheppard sleeping on the couch.
Sheppard is charged with Unauthorized Entry of a Dwelling and Criminal Damage to Property up to $500.
Accosted on Augusta
Someone doesn’t like 27 year old Terrell Davis.
Davis says he was in his car on the corner of 6th and Augusta with the window down around 1:00 am Friday morning (5-01-09) when an unknown black male came and punched him in the face.
Davis says the suspect hit him a couple of more times and then he took off toward his destination at 612 Augusta Street.
However, Davis wasn’t safe there…3 or 4 suspects followed him and jumped him.
Davis says one of them had a gun which was used to beat him in the face.
A witness who heard the commotion came outside only to have a gun pointed at him.
The witness says one of the suspects told him he didn’t want to get involved with this.
Davis says the men took $300 and his cell phone from him and then ran off toward Willow Glen.
While the officer was speaking with Davis an older model box style Buick pulled out a home on 6th Street.
Davis and the witness said that was the suspects’ vehicle but the officer couldn’t catch them in time.
When the officer went to that home the lady that lives there said she didn’t know any of the suspects.
