Alexandria Police Narcotics conducted a week-long Undercover Operation of heavy prostitution up and down the Lee Street and Bolton Ave areas. The complaints came from the general public with concerns of females possibly working as prostitutes, stopping cars and making sexual advancements toward males driving vehicles in the Bolton and Lee Street areas. Several citizens also stated that at any given hour of the day or night anyone could witness a solicitation take place by these females.
Narcotics began investigating what turned out to be a week-long operation. Phase I of the prostitution sting—Clean and Sweep—consisted of using male undercover agents to pose as a “johns”. Agents targeted females working the Bolton and Lee Street areas as prostitutes, soliciting money in return for sexual favors in the area. The first day of the operation agents made two arrests. The second day of the investigation they made eight arrests with two of those women being arrested during the first day of the operation.
Phase II of the sting—Operation John-John—consisted of using a female undercover agent to pose as a prostitute on Bolton Avenue. The first night of the operation agents arrested 13 men considered “Johns” as they attempted to solicit money for sexual favors.
The second night of the investigation a female undercover agent was placed on Lee Street. Agents arrested eight men that offered money in return for sex, one of the men was reportedly a middle school teacher and coach as well as a minister.
