<dc:subject>Saints stay perfect, beat Falcons, 35-27</dc:subject>

By BRETT MARTEL
AP Sports Writer
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Saints have tied their best start to a
season.
Drew Brees had 308 yards passing, Pierre Thomas scored two
touchdowns and Jabari Greer returned an interception for a score to
help the Saints improve to 7-0 with a 35-27 victory over the
Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. Only the 1991 Saints began a
season with as many wins.
Greer’s touchdown was the Saints’ fifth score on an interception
this season, tying a single-season franchise mark set in 1998.
Tracy Porter also had an interception on the Saints 1-yard line on
a pass tipped by Jonathan Vilma in the fourth quarter, preserving a
28-24 lead.
Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan was intercepted three times, the
third straight game he’d been intercepted at least twice.
Still, the Falcons stayed in it until the end, getting a 40-yard
field goal from Jason Elam with 28 seconds left, then recovering an
onside kick. Ryan only had time for a desperation heave in the
final seconds, and Darren Sharper turned it into his seventh
interception of the season.
Sharper’s interception also was the Saints’ 16th overall this
season, surpassing New Orleans’ total of 15 from last season. The
Saints have at least one interception in every game this season.
Brees hit Marques Colston for an 18-yard score. Thomas scored on
a 22-yard run in the first quarter and a 1-yard catch out of the
backfield with 3:03 to go, flipping backward over a tackler and
into the end zone. That touchdown made it 35-24 and ignited the
entire Superdome into chants of “Who dat say they gonna’ beat them
Saints?”
Reggie Bush added a 1-yard touchdown late in the first half,
giving the Saints a lead they would not relinquish.
Roddy White beat Greer on a 68-yard scoring pass from Ryan early
in the third quarter, and the Falcons pulled to 28-24 on Elam’s
25-yard field goal with 11:33 to go in the game.
That field goal, however, came only after Saints coach Sean
Payton sprinted down the sideline and launched his red flag about
20 yards just in time to challenge what had been ruled a game-tying
touchdown catch by White in the back of the end zone. Replays
showed White allowed the ball to touch the turf as he bobbled the
catch.
The loss, Atlanta’s second straight, dropped the Falcons (4-3)
three games behind the Saints in the NFC South. It marked the first
time the Falcons had lost two straight under second-year coach Mike
Smith. It also squandered Michael Turner’s best game of the season.
He had 151 yards rushing, including a 13-yard touchdown.
The Falcons’ defense also produced a score. Thomas DeCoud’s
jarring sack on a delayed blitz up the middle dislodged the ball
from Brees and Kroy Biermann returned it from the 4-yard line,
giving Atlanta a 14-7 lead late in the first quarter.
Brees came back strong from the turnover, leading the Saints 80
yards on 12 plays to tie it at 14 on his TD pass to Colston, who
outjumped cornerback Tye Hill on the grab. Colston finished with 85
yards on six catches and tight end Jeremy Shockey caught five
passes for 72 yards.
Atlanta had two first-half drives stall on Elam’s missed field
goal attempts from 34 and 51 yards.
One Saints drive stalled deep in Atlanta territory when
cornerback Brent Grimes made a spectacular leaping interception on
the Atlanta 18.
Brees once again bounced back, going 4 for 4 for 76 yards on the
Saints’ final offensive series of the first half, setting up Bush’s
touchdown on a run around the left end.
A little more than three years ago, the Falcons were the
visitors when the Saints returned to the newly reopened Louisiana
Superdome for the first time since Hurricane Katrina. That Monday
night had a storybook start for the Saints, who scored on a blocked
punt on Atlanta’s opening drive.
With those vivid memories still fresh, the Superdome crowd was
cheering wildly as the Saints defense took the field after the
opening kickoff.
This time, however, Ryan calmly led the Falcons 77 yards for a
score, with Turner gaining 38 of those yards, including his lone
TD.
New Orleans answered when Thomas broke former LSU star Chevis
Jackson’s tackle near the line of scrimmage, then cut left away
from John Abraham to tie it at 7.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Brandon LaFell caught two touchdown
passes, moving him into second on LSU’s career list, and the
ninth-ranked Tigers shut out Tulane for the first time since 1969,
42-0 on Saturday night.
Charles Scott rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns and
freshman Russell Shepard scored his second career TD - and second
in as many games - with a 19-yard run. Jordan Jefferson threw for
163 yards and two scores, both to LaFell, who has 22 career TDs,
four behind Dwayne Bowe.
On the 50th anniversary of Billy Cannon’s Halloween night,
89-yard punt return to beat Ole Miss, LSU’s Trindon Holliday was
unable to take a punt all the way back. He did, however, have a
pair of 50-yard returns, the second setting up Scott’s second
touchdown.
LSU (7-1) now can set its sights on next weekend’s trip to
Alabama, with the lead in the Southeastern Conference’s Western
Division riding on the outcome.
Tulane (2-6) has lost four consecutive games this season and 18
straight to the Tigers since the Green Wave’s last victory in the
series in 1982. That also was Tulane’s last win against a Top-25
team. The Wave has lost 38 straight against ranked teams, including
BYU and Houston this season.
Tulane had only two decent scoring chances, both on
second-quarter drives inside the LSU 20. The first ended when
Tulane lost yards on two plays before Ross Thevenot hooked a
43-yard field-goal attempt wide left. The next stalled when Ryan
Griffin’s tipped pass was intercepted by Patrick Peterson.
Griffin, a redshirt freshman, didn’t do too badly considering he
was making only his second career start against one of the toughest
defenses in the country. He completed 21 of 29 passes for 163
yards. He was sacked twice and intercepted once.
Jefferson was an efficient 11 for 17 passing, with one
interception. LSU finished with a 455-216 advantage in total yards.
While Tulane’s defense forced a punt on LSU’s first possession,
the Tigers quickly seized momentum when Daniel Graff blocked
Thevenot’s punt and Stefoin Francois recovered, advancing the ball
to the 23-yard line. It was the second time this season Tulane had
a punt blocked and the first time LSU had blocked one since LaRon
Landry did it at Florida in 2006.
Two plays later, Shepard scored on an elusive run in which he
changed direction and cut back across the field.
Late in the first quarter, Jefferson rolled away from pressure
and spotted LaFell open near the goal line for a 39-yard score.
LaFell’s second touchdown reception early in the fourth made it
35-0 and put LaFell one TD reception ahead of Michael Clayton on
LSU’s list.
Scott scored on 4- and 8-yard runs in the second and third
quarters. His second touchdown gave him 32 rushing TDs for his
career, moving him into fourth on LSU’s career list, one ahead of
Terry Robiskie. Scott, a senior, will be hard pressed to catch
leader Kevin Faulk, who had 46.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Brothers Rahim Alem and Chad Jones have
a somewhat unusual view of the rivalry between LSU and Tulane.
The father of the Tigers’ defensive starters, Al Jones, played
defensive end for Tulane in the late 1970s. These days, Al and
Patti Jones attend their sons’ games wearing LSU jerseys with
Alem’s No. 84 on the front and Jones’ No. 3 on the back.
Don’t expect Al Jones to break out his old Green Wave jersey for
Saturday night’s meeting between the two south Louisiana schools.
Alem - who changed his name from Alfred Jones Jr. in college to
honor his African heritage - ripped it while wearing it as a child.
The Tulane memorabilia left at the Jones household these days is
limited to little more than a blanket, an old banner and - of all
things - a doormat, Alem said.
The elder Jones may be proud of his alma mater, but the
symbolism, accidental or not, is a little hard to ignore. Tulane
has had losing records most of this decade and hasn’t beaten LSU
since 18 meetings ago in 1982. That also was the last time the
Green Wave beat a team ranked in the Top 25.
Since then, Tulane (2-5) has lost 37 straight to ranked squads,
including defeats against BYU and Houston this season.
Oddsmakers see little reason why anything will change at Tiger
Stadium this time. Ninth-ranked LSU (6-1) is favored by a whopping
seven touchdowns.
“It’s a tough time to be playing these guys,” said Tulane
coach Bob Toledo, whose team has dropped three straight. “We need
to improve this week, and we need to get better so we can finish
strong. We don’t want to be embarrassed.”
LSU beat Auburn 31-10 last weekend for its most impressive
victory of the season.
Quarterback Jordan Jefferson bounced back from the worst
performance of his career a couple weeks earlier against Florida
and threw for a career-high 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns to
Terrance Toliver and Brandon LaFell.
The victory ensured LSU would be able to play for the
Southeastern Conference’s Western Division lead at Alabama on Nov.
7, the game everyone in Baton Rouge is talking about, even though
Tulane is next on the schedule.
LSU coach Les Miles knows there’s little he can do about that,
so he’s implored his players to view Tulane as a critical tuneup
for the Tide.
“The good news about this football team is we get to play,”
Miles said. “When you get to play, there is an opportunity to
improve. ... We have to improve to play well against this team and
then thereafter.”
Miles also stressed that Tulane has players that can hurt LSU if
the Tigers fail to focus on the task at hand, players like running
back Andre Anderson (646 yards, six TDs) and receiver Jeremy
Williams (44 receptions, 662 yards, three TDs).
Even if this game isn’t close, it could be an emotional one for
longtime fans of either school. LSU Heisman Trophy winner Billy
Cannon is expected to attend for the 50th anniversary of his
89-yard, Halloween night game-winning punt return against Ole Miss.
It’s also the last scheduled meeting between Tulane and LSU, which
have played each other 97 times since 1893. They mutually agreed to
prematurely end their current annual series after this year,
promising only one more meeting in a season yet to be determined.
“It’s unfortunate that it’s going to be the last time - at
least for a long time,” Toledo said. “I know it’s a very
difficult game for us to play, but I think it’s great from an
in-state rivalry point and for that, I’ll be sorry to be honest
with you.”

Dunder Mifflin isn’t the only company with office hijinks.

A Wisconsin business has parlayed a football rivalry into an on-line spoof worthy of NBC’s “The Office.”

“The banks of the St. Croix River” reads the narrator on the company video.

This isn’t Scranton, PA.

“It’s where Resco calls home”

And this isn’t Dunder Mifflin.

But maybe it’s what “The Office” would be, if it were in Hudson, Wisconsin.

On the border between two passions.

“You can feel the love here at Resco.”

One purple, the other, green.

“During Packer Vikings rivalry week, of course we get as much work done as we can,” says company president John Knutson.

With a staff evenly split in their loyalty to the Packers, and the Vikings.

The Resco company had a decision to make: Work amid the rivalry, or make the rivalry part of their work.

“We actually originally meant it to be an internal thing, but it’s kind of getting legs of its own,” adds Knutson.

Getting legs? Well it’s this: A video shot by the small marketing and sales company, a sort of mockumentary that’s already racked up thousands of views on YouTube.

Fun and games aside, after a year of layoffs and revenues slashed by as much as 35 percent, his is the marketing tool Resco really needed.

“We want to be sure that our clients understand this is a type of thing we can do not only for ourselves but also for them,” says Knutson.

But that whole business thing, purely a byproduct.

Because all these employees, and some of these antics, are legit.

“Almost” completely legit.

“This was an opportunity in the video to act out our feelings,” says employee David Wickstrom.

Because one gets the impression, after glimpsing Vikings or Packers paraphernalia in nearly every company corner, this is a football office. Pure and simple.

Complete with everyone’s predictions.

Football is a game of wins and losses, but players on one high school team in Ohio are learning from one of their teammates what it really means to be tough and to win everyday.

Jack McGrath was born without any bones below his right knee.

That portion of the leg was amputated when he was just one year old so he could be fitted with a series of prosthetic legs as he grew older.

“My parents figured it would be the best thing for me, that way I could get a prosthetic leg and have a chance at walking, and I’ve been walking ever since then,” Jack explains.

Jack played some little league baseball, but never really got into sports until his sophomore year at Riverside’s Carroll High School.

Head football coach Steve Bartlett asked him to serve as trainer, and Jack accepted the offer.

After a year of taking care of the gear, Jack decided it was time to put it on.

While he knew it would be a big challenge for Jack, Coach Bartlett and the rest of the team welcomed him with open arms.

Being a Carroll Patriot football player has inspired Jack and in turn, he’s done the same for the team.

<dc:subject>Fullback Heath Evans lost for season</dc:subject>

By BRETT MARTEL
AP Sports Writer
METAIRIE, La. (AP) - Sean Payton brought fullback Heath Evans to
the Saints with the aim of gaining versatility on the field and
leadership in the locker room.
The Saints will have to settle for the latter for the rest of
this season.
The Saints placed Evans on injured reserve, Payton said
Thursday, because of a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament
tear that occurred in last Sunday’s comeback victory in Miami.
“That’s tough,” quarterback Drew Brees said. “Heath was not
only a real productive player, but he’s an awesome guy - an awesome
locker room guy, great for that running backs room.
“Heath was just a real good influence on everybody,” Brees
continued. “He has told me that he wants to be around as much as
possible. ... Hopefully he will be around and I know he will be.”
Payton said Evans had surgery on Thursday.
The injury occurred after Evans nearly scored on 9-yard
reception out of the backfield in the fourth quarter. Evans was
forced out of bounds by Akin Ayodele at the 2, setting up Brees’
sneak for the go-ahead score.
Evans has been a key blocker in the Saints’ running game, which
ranks third in the NFL. He also had three touchdowns, two on short
receptions.
“He’s to date really played well for us both in the running
game and the passing game,” Payton said. “You never like to lose
a starter. It will be up to the rest of these guys at the tight end
position, the fullback position, potentially one of our halfbacks
to take over that role, but it does change what you’ve been
accustomed to with the starter that’s out.”
The Saints quickly signed fullback Kyle Eckel, who arrived in
New Orleans in time to practice on Thursday. Whether Payton becomes
comfortable enough with Eckel to play him Monday night against
Atlanta remains to be seen. Also practicing at fullback for the
Saints were running back Lynell Hamilton and blocking tight end
David Thomas.
Hamilton has routinely played fullback on the scout team this
season and said he sometimes played fullback at San Diego State.
Eckel, who attended Navy, has spent time with Miami, New England
and Philadelphia during three NFL seasons and was Evans’ teammate
on the Patriots. Eckel said he had already spoken with Evans about
his move to New Orleans.
“I’m excited and hopefully I can contribute like Heath did,”
Eckel said.
Eckel said he’s also a football fan who’d been following
numerous teams, including the Saints, on TV.
“It’s great to watch,” he said of the Saints’ offense.
“Hopefully it’s great to be a part of it, too.”
Eckel, a Philadelphia native, joked that the only problem with
coming to New Orleans now was being away from home while his
Phillies were in the World Series for the second year in a row.
“I’m sick,” he said with a chuckle. “It’s very bittersweet
right now, but it’s a good problem to have, right?”
Meanwhile, Payton said defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis’ sprained
right knee should not be too serious to prevent him from returning
this season, though Payton did not have a timetable for when the
2008 first-round draft pick could get back on the field.
“The swelling’s down,” Payton said. “It’s better, yet we
wouldn’t know anything more until later in the week, so I’m
somewhat guarded in regard to the progress he’s making.
Payton said he was optimistic, about Scott Fujita’s recovery
from his left calf strain. Fujita, who missed his first game this
season last Sunday, did not practice on Thursday.

Cannon’s Run

Billy Cannon's Run Celebrated 50 years later

      <dc:subject>Billy Cannon's Run Celebrated 50 years later</dc:subject>

By BRETT MARTEL
AP Sports Writer
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - When Billy Cannon first pulled on a
purple and gold LSU uniform, he never figured he’d do anything on a
football field that would last 50 years.
By the time his college career was over, the star running back
had won a national title (1958), a Heisman Trophy (1959) and his
No. 20 jersey had been retired, making him the first LSU player to
receive such an honor.
As it turns out, No. 9 LSU has a home game on the 50th
anniversary of the most famous of Cannon’s many highlights, a
slashing, tackle-breaking, 89-yard punt return that lifted the
Tigers to a 7-3 triumph over No. 3 Mississippi.
During the game against Tulane, LSU will commemorate the play,
widely believed to have clinched Cannon’s Heisman that year. Now
72, Cannon will be honored on the field while the play is rerun on
the massive video boards above the stands behind each end zone.
Cannon promised with a grin this week that he and his old teammates
would not attempt a re-enactment.
“I’ve looked at my guys and I don’t think any of us could
finish it, but we’ve enjoyed it very much over the years,” Cannon
said. “Every player is proud of their part in that run and in
their preparation to play in that game.”
Footage of the run, which can be found on the Internet, shows
Cannon snagging a bouncing punt at the LSU 11, slipping a slew of
tacklers and finally breaking loose along the right sideline as the
Tiger Stadium crowd went wild.
What a many forget is that Cannon also had a hand in Ole Miss’
only points.
“I was probably one of your better fumblers, too,” he said,
referring to his turnover in LSU territory that led to the Rebels’
field goal.
Cannon doesn’t seem to mind reminiscing about his blunders,
either, and said he would advise any football fan to spend a couple
hours watching the entire game, which ended with LSU’s goal-line
stand in the final minute to make Cannon’s touchdown stand up as
the winning score.
“The runaways and where you get blown out, you forget,” Cannon
said. “But where every play can determine the outcome of a game,
those are the ones you remember, and you remember vividly.”
Cannon went on to a successful pro career in the American
Football League with the Houston Oilers and Oakland Raiders, and
after football went to dental school. In 1983, however, he was
arrested on federal counterfeiting charges, ultimately pleaded
guilty, served half of a five-year sentence and came out broke.
Though tarnished for a time, Cannon’s reputation has been
rebuilt through his work as a dentist at the Louisiana State
Penitentiary at Angola, where he tries to serve as a positive
example for inmates, and through his routine participation in LSU
events.
He is even able to joke about his troubled past, examining
several voice recorders placed in front of him when he met with
reporters and saying, “I haven’t seen those since the FBI left
town.”
Saturday night won’t be the first time Cannon has seen his run
on the big screen in Death Valley, and Cannon said it’s always a
thrill, especially when his grandchildren are there with him.
“To see the look on their faces that that really happened -
they hear about it, but to see it and to be with ... our LSU
fanatic fans, and to see the look on their faces is fantastic,”
Cannon said.
Cannon, who grew up in Baton Rouge and even saw Y.A. Tittle play
for the Tigers, was quick to dismiss the idea that his runback
stands as the greatest play in LSU history. Rather, he says, it was
all about timing.
“Do you know how many great football players we’ve seen play in
that stadium?” Cannon said. “I think it’s the time or the moment
that makes a great play stand up. If we’d been ahead two
touchdowns, I don’t think it would have (mattered as much). But it
was a lot of fun doing it.”

<dc:subject>Miles embraces break from SEC play</dc:subject>

By BRETT MARTEL
AP Sports Writer
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Les Miles figures there’s little use in
trying to ignore the fact that No. 9 LSU’s game at Alabama on Nov.
7 is looming largest on the minds of just about everyone associated
with the program.
He only hopes his players will see Saturday night’s home game
against struggling Tulane as a much-needed opportunity to get
better before LSU (6-1) returns to its Southeastern Conference
schedule.
“We understand that our greatest ally at this point is time -
to improve, do better and play strong and play dominant against our
next opponent.” Miles said Monday. “Then we’ll look around and
see where we are at.”
Tulane (2-5) is coming off a 43-6 loss at Southern Mississippi,
its third straight loss, and Tulane hasn’t beaten LSU since 1982.
Miles nonetheless referred to the Green Wave as “dangerous,”
and said his players must continue to build on the substantial
improvement they showed in a 31-10 victory over Auburn.
Jordan Jefferson passed for a career-high 242 yards and threw a
pair of touchdown passes against Auburn, going a long way toward
putting his miserable performance against Florida (96 yards
passing, five sacks) behind him.
It was only the ninth career start for the sophomore, and it was
the first time this season he looked comfortable throwing deep and
trusting his receivers to make plays, something he’d pledged to do
during LSU’s recent bye week.
“What I think we’re finding is, each game he continues to
improve, he understands, he learns, he sees the field well, and I’m
not surprised,” Miles said. “There’s no ability for a coach to
take you beyond experience. ... You need as many snaps as you can
get, and then, it helps him translate those plays in a game more
effectively, especially for a guy that has the talent that he
has.”
A pair of freshman also emerged on offense, with Russell Shepard
scoring on a 69-yard run and Rueben Randle hauling in a tough
31-yard catch along the sideline.
Miles said a number of young players who had not seen much
action until the Auburn game “will play key roles during the rest
of the season.”
If the rest of the season goes as planned, LSU could re-emerge
as a contender to win the SEC and compete for a national title. If
LSU pulls out a victory at No. 2 Alabama, the Tigers would vault
into first place in the SEC Western Division, setting up a
potential rematch with Florida in the SEC title game.
“Our football team recognizes that if they do the things that
they are capable of, we’ll get to a position where we’ll play for
everything that we want,” Miles said.
The timing of the bye week appeared to work in LSU’s favor,
giving the Tigers an opportunity to take a hard look at what went
wrong in their 13-3 loss to the Gators on Oct. 10.
“The recognition of how we played against Florida and the
comparisons of the two teams that were made by the (LSU) players
who played really told them something,” Miles said. “I think it
became a more urgent want to prepare, improve and be the team they
are capable of being.”
Although LSU has only lost one game all season, there were few
instances before the Auburn game in which the Tigers looked
dominant.
LSU needed a late goal-line stand to escape Mississippi State
with a win and a pair of late touchdowns to beat Georgia. The
Tigers’ offense was thoroughly stifled by Florida, with the game
remaining close only because of timely plays by LSU’s defense.
Even the defense was struggling in key areas, entering the
Auburn game ranked last in the SEC in sacks with five. The unit
nearly doubled that total against Auburn, sacking Chris Todd four
times. One sack produced a turnover and LSU also had an
interception.
“This defense seems to have a smile on its face when it goes
out to play, and they are playing aggressive and downhill,” Miles
said. “There is great effort. There is a sprit there that is
allowing them to continue to get better.”

By BRETT MARTEL
AP Sports Writer
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Drew Brees had four turnovers, was sacked
five times, and his team was down by three touchdowns in the waning
moments of the first half.
The Saints still won. On the road. By double digits.
Generally, teams can’t win that way in the NFL. Then again,
conventional wisdom goes out the window when a club is on pace to
break the league’s all-time single-season scoring record.
“Honest to God, we knew it was going to happen,” Brees said,
recalling the locker room mood at halftime of the Saints’ 46-34
comeback win at Miami on Sunday. “Sure enough, it did.”
New Orleans has scored 45 or more points in a game four times
this season. The Saints have averaged 39.7 points through their
first six games. That puts them on pace to challenge the
single-season scoring record owned by the 2007 New England
Patriots, who averaged 36.8 points. Those Patriots went 16-0.
And it hasn’t just been the Saints’ vaunted offense putting up
all the points during their 6-0 start. Big plays by the defense
were part of the reason New Orleans scored 43 points in the last
30:02 at Miami.
New Orleans’ first touchdown in the final seconds of the first
half was set up by safety Roman Harper’s forced fumble and
linebacker Scott Shanle’s recovery. Then came two interceptions
returned for scores in the second half by safety Darren Sharper and
cornerback Tracy Porter - with Porter’s coming in the final minutes
and keeping New Orleans perfect against the point spread as well.
“Our mentality on this defense is, ‘Why can’t we make a big
play and score?’ and we did that,” Shanle said. “Obviously you
only get so many possessions in a game for your offense and if you
can score on defense, that is a huge momentum swing.”
It was the second time this season the Saints had two defensive
touchdowns in one game, the first being their 24-10 victory over
the New York Jets in Week 4.
The Dolphins game marked the first time all season the Saints
were forced to come from behind, and they appeared to be on the
ropes, down 24-3 late in the first half.
Known best for Brees’ prolific passing, New Orleans won in Miami
with more guts and muscle than finesse.
While Brees passed for 298 yards and one touchdown to Marques
Colston, he scored twice on quarterback sneaks and also made a key
block on Reggie Bush’s 10-yard touchdown, helping the running back
get to the corner on a reverse.
Mike Bell rushed for 80 punishing yards in the second half,
knocking tacklers flat on their backs and preventing the Dolphins
from pressuring Brees as much as they had in the first half.
“Everyone thinks we’re a finesse team and we’re always up
early, but here we showed that we can come from behind,” Bell
said. “There was a major (deficit) at halftime, and we came back,
and persevered, and we stuck together.”
In the end, the Saints provided more proof they are anything but
one-dimensional, that their powerful ground game and big-play
defense can play major roles in their success.
Whether they can run the table in the regular season and set a
single-season scoring record is another matter.
The ‘07 Patriots twice scored more than 50 en route to a season
total of 589 points, including 52 against Washington and 56 at
Buffalo. They also scored 48 at Dallas, 49 at Miami and scored 38
points four times.
Fittingly, if the Saints continue their torrid pace and truly
threaten to equal the Patriots’ perfect ‘07 regular season record
or challenge their all-time scoring mark, New England will have a
say in the matter: Tom Brady’s bunch is scheduled to visit New
Orleans on Monday night, Nov. 30.
